Dissappointed with Grove City Police Officer's

Postby thergirl » 08 Dec 2010, Wed 9:17 pm

I am a law abiding citizen. I am a mother of three children and I am 44 yrs old.I never thought I would be posting on a website like this(no offense!). I was pulled over on September 14th of this year and given a ticket for running a red light.
There's only one problem. It was yellow! The cop even said it was yellow when he came up to my car. But he said if I was going the speed limit I would have been able to stop.He did not "clock" me.When I went to court I was told I was being charged with running a red light. I pled not guilty. The prosecuter tried to get me to plead to a lesser charge, in exchange for no points and a $150 ticket. I told her I would not plead guilty to something I did not do. I went to court(I had never been to court before)I didn't have a lawyer. The cop got on the stand and lied under oath.I was shocked beyond words. Not only did he say that the light was red, he also said that I almost hit the car in front of me because I sped up to make the light. That was a lie. There was not a car in front of me at all.My 13yr old daughter was in the car with me. We looked at each other in dis-belief.My daughter testified that the light was yellow.I would never ask my daughter to lie.It was the truth. The judge found me guilty. No big surprise! He is not going to go against his own. What bothers me the most is that my daughter now has no trust in the police of our city. She was there she knew this cop had lied and under oath for that matter. What kind of role model is he? We are both dissappointed and saddened that the person that is suppose to protect us is a person we can not trust. I was stupid to think that I could go to court thinking that all I had to do was have me and my daughter tell the truth and everything would be okay. Now that I know how our justice system works I won't make that mistake again. The judge and the prosecutor are no better. They had their minds made up before I ever got there. I hope one day that my daughter will be able to see that not all police officer's are like the one that was in court today. I was fined $50 and court cost. And most people would say just pay it. I say to that, no. It's not the money. Sometimes in life you have to stand up and fight for what is right. This is that "sometime" for me. I am appealing the verdict in another court. So I'll see what happens. Even if I win it will not change how I feel about Grove city and that cop.
