The defenses first witness, Justin Gordon, the open records division chief in the Texas Attorney General’s Office, seemingly disputed the charges that Paxton acted improperly when he forced the open records to be released. Under cross examination, Gordon said that his office’s original draft ruling was not to release the files in response to the open records request from Paul’s lawyer. Open Records Department In Texas Is Overpaid And Worthless As Shit

The Texas Attorney General is responsible for ensuring that Texas governmental bodies in Texas remain open and accountable to the people they serve because open government elevates the public to their proper role as partners in leadership with governmental bodies.

The Public Information Act (PIA) enhances our First Amendment rights and directly benefits society because information obtained under the law could expose government “wrongdoing.”

The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created.
