In Texas in the last 5 years over 300 police officers have been caught committing crimes such as, felony charges for violent crimes, sex crimes, planted evidence, lied, stolen, dealt drugs, sexual harassment, drinking on duty, use of narcotics and discrimination. Despite their role as public servants, the men and women who swear an oath to keep our communities safe can generally avoid public scrutiny for their misconduct. or abuses of official power. Only a few police officer have actually spent time behind bars.
How Do Bad Cops Not Go to Jail For Their Crimes?
Police officers use their police license as a bargaining tool by agreeing to surrender it as part of a deal to avoid jail or prison.
Judges, District Attorneys and County Attorneys who have worked together with these criminal cops for years, as a “favor” offer the police officer probation or community service for their crimes, if the cop permanently surrenders their peace officer license, barring them from ever working as a police officer in Texas again. If the police officer agrees to these plea bargains the charges are then dropped.
