Strong communities are built on trust, communication, and presence. But when residents try to reach their elected constable, where is he?
Constable Herschel Smith says he proudly serves the residents of Waller County Precinct 3 with professionalism, integrity, and community-focused law enforcement. His office emphasizes accountability, visibility, and proactive public safety.
That raises a simple question: Where is that accountability when residents have questions and cannot get answers or a response from the Constable’s Office?
Leadership is more than words on a website or statements about professionalism and community service. Leadership means being accessible, responsive, and willing to answer to the people you were elected to serve.
If the Constable’s Office expects the community to trust its leadership, that trust must be earned through transparency, communication, accessibility, and accountability—not simply claimed.
Transparence? Not with Constable Smith
Residents are also seeking access to public records and answers about the operation of the office. When requests for records go unanswered, are denied, or are otherwise not provided, the public has every right to ask why.
What is preventing the release of records the public is entitled to access? Why is transparency such a difficult standard to meet? And what, exactly, is the Constable’s Office unwilling or unable to disclose?
These are legitimate questions—not attacks. Public office comes with public responsibility. The people of Precinct 3 deserve answers, transparency, and accountability from the person they elected to serve them.
